Drawn to explore her family’s historic connection to Greece, photographer Jacqueline Andronicus travelled to her ancestral homeland of Kythira, near the southern tip of the Peloponnese. Over the years, as she explored and photographed the ‘wildness’ of Kythira, Jacqueline fell more deeply in love with this mythical island.
Her grandfather John Andronicus, migrated from Kythira to Australia in 1908, and it was his lifelong consuming passion for coffee that gave rise to the remarkable empire known as Andronicus Coffee. An empire that introduced everyday Australians to the wonderful world of ‘coffee culture’.
This photobook is for all lovers of Greek culture, and especially for those with an affinity for the magical island of Kythira.
